Happy (belated) new year!  The folks at Up & Down are stoked to bring you lots of playful goodness in 2014.

Our very own Lindsey Hope Pearlman created and directed a new play, LUCY, presented as a work-in-progress at Dixon Place on January 3, 2014.  The stellar cast featured fellow London International School of Performing Arts graduates Stella Evangelia, Anisa George (Penn Dixie Productions), Up & Down's Kate Chavez, and Alex Suha.  Joining our merry band was the brilliant Nick Lehane, who also built our beloved Lucy puppet!  The cast devised the play as an ensemble, with Lindsey at the helm.  Head on over to the Pics/Vids page to catch a glimpse of the magic of LUCY.  We hope to bring this play to a theatre near you soon.  Stay tuned.

Forgive us, dear reader, for not updating our blog. We haven't forgotten about you!

Summer was quite busy for the folks at Up & Down, as we shot our third video, BIG FED DADDY.  Watch this space, as its release is imminent.  It's going to be a doozy, folks. 

Our thanks to the fine gentlemen of the University Glee Club for having us perform as part of their Afterglow Performance Series this week.  We had a blast!

We've got a whole lot more in store for you this fall, so stay tuned...

Summer is upon us and Up & Down is hot! 

The Ballad of Hank Paulson was nominated for Best Original Video by the 5th Annual Toobie Awards!  Thanks to the folks at Fresh Ground Pepper for the nomination.

You can also see The Free Marketeers on the big screen at "Video Schooled the Comedy Star" as part of the 2nd Annual NY Funny Songs Festival.  We're stoked to be involved with this awesome event!

We're also proud to announce that the kind folks at the Puffin Foundation have provided valuable support for our next music video project.  Watch this space for more details this summer.

The good folks at Up & Down are gearing up to present WINNING THE FUTURE this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday April 19-21 at Teatro Paraguas in Santa Fe, NM.  Friday & Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 4pm.  Don't miss it!  We'll be rolling out some never- before- seen stuff, it's going to be a blast.

We're also kicking off our first- ever workshop on Satirical Comedy at the New Mexico School for the Arts April 22-26th!  We met our intrepid students for the first time yesterday and we couldn't be more excited.  We're going to learn so much from them as we guide them down the path of ensemble devised satirical comedy.

And that's not all!  The first episode of CONSPIRACIES DEBUNKED is in the can, thanks in part to the amazing talents of Ariel Rakes, Charles Davies, and Bruce Wong.  Watch this space to see the finished product coming soon.

We've been lucky to enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the folks at The Box Performance Space. Thanks to Kristin and Doug for the warm welcome!  We were excited to sell out our opening, thanks in great part to a wonderful article in the Albuquerque Journal and a recommendation from Local iQ, along with lots of home-grown support.  We also shared a lobby with the amazing Pajama Men!

The Underground Guide to Albuquerque wrote about the show: "In their first touring production, Winning the Future, Lindsey, Robin and Kate are exuding an infectious energy of rebellion and whimsy, born out of their friendship and convictions as earnest, yet discombobulated, young Americans navigating a modern cultural and political landscape fraught with contradictions and calcified divisions. They’re putting a name to a lot of injustice, and that name is “HA-HA!”

We have one more weekend in Albuquerque, on Friday and Saturday April 5 & 6  at 7pm. Buy your tickets now! In addition to our Albuquerque shows, the coming weeks will see us performing for We Are People Here in Santa Fe, and at Teatro Paraguas April 19-21st.  We will also be writing new material and filming more sketches/songs to add to our internet library!  If you're not on our mailing list, hop on board and we'll keep you in the Up & Down loop.  

March is shaping up to be a BIG month for the folks here at Up & Down!  We are gearing up for our run of Winning the Future, which plays at Albuquerque's The Box Performance Space Fridays & Saturdays at 7pm, March 29th - April 6th.  Tickets are now available!  We're going to be updating the show throughout the run, so don't hesitate to come back for multiple servings of Up & Down comedy.  

Following our run at The Box, we'll be at Santa Fe's Teatro Paraguas April 19 - 21.  The 19th & 20th we'll take the stage at 8pm, and the 21st we'll do a matinee show at 4pm.  To reserve tickets for the Santa Fe show, give Teatro Paraguas a call at (505) 424-1601.   

We're also very pleased and proud to announce that we've received Foundation support this month!  The kind folks at The Yip Harburg Foundation have sent us a "moral support" grant to help us meet expenses associated with our upcoming run of Winning the Future.  We're honored to carry on the legacy of this great writer, who gave us classic tunes such as "It's Only A Paper Moon," and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow".  Thank you, Yip Harburg Foundation!  If you would like to join Mr. Harburg's ranks and become a supporter of Up & Down, visit our Support page!

Hello and good bye! New York came and went in a flurry -- in the span of a little over a week, we performed as the special guests at Penny's Open Mic (thanks, Penny!) and at Sketch Block at UNDER St. Marks (thanks, KL Thomas and awesome host Rob Asaro). We headed to Queens with the extraordinary cinematographer Bliss Holloway to shoot our second video, "Yoga Ladies".  Big shout out to Yoga Agora, the beautiful yoga studio that provided space for us to do our thing. And don't take our word for it- you can see just how lovely the space is in our production stills (click the "Our Work" tab).  

As if all that wasn't enough, we rounded the week off with a Sunday-brunch showing of Winning the Future at UNDER St. Marks. What a thrill to perform to a standing-room only crowd!  And, we have a new fan in Jimmy McMillan of The Rent is Too Damn High party.  Our sincere thanks to Horse Trade Theater Group for hosting us. 

Now we're looking West again. New Mexico, here we come! So those of you who missed our last show in Albuquerque, or got snowed out in Santa Fe, here's your chance! We're excited to join forces with The Box for a four-show run in Albuquerque, starting on March 29th, followed by performances at Teatro Paraguas in Santa Fe starting April 19th.

Hello, friends!

Our run in Albuquerque and Santa Fe was a blizzard of awesome!  A hearty round of thanks to Courtney at the Orpheum Arts Space, the amazing Lexy McAvinchey and Tommy Roman for their technical wizardry, and our amazing communities who provided ridiculous support.

Next up, we're taking WTF to NYC!

We'll be on at UNDER St. Marks on Sunday, January 13th @ 3pm. Buy your tickets here.  $10, $8 for students.  We won't mind a bit if you have a couple of mimosas at brunch down the street before you get there -- we'll even have a bar on hand at the show to keep you moving your Sunday along.  We'll debut our new music video, "The Ballad of Hank Paulson", in addition to showcasing our latest WTF material.  

Thanks to Horse Trade Theater Group for putting us on. We lucky three are humbled to be surrounded by amazing, talented people who are willing and able to help us out.  While in New York, we'll also be filming a short sketch from the show-- once again with our favorite cinematographer, the amazing Bliss Holloway.  Look out for more Up & Down videos in 2013!

In other news, we have just become fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, which means anyone can now donate to Up & Down and get a tax credit all at the same time! Tax-deductible donations will go towards defraying the costs of video production and recording studio time. We do quite a lot with very little, but everyone knows you still have to put something in to get something out!  Any donation is greatly appreciated and we promise we'll put your money to good use.
